The Panama Canal is famous for being the first and only canal to connect the east and the west. There’s more to see at the Canal than just a series of locks and channels. There’s wildlife and ships entering and leaving all along a beautiful tropical backdrop.

Day 1: Arriving in Panama City

You’ll get the VIP treatment from the start. This means you wont have to wait around at the airport as we will meet you at the gate. We handle your bags and take you to your hotel.

Day 2: Panama City Tour

Our day will start with breakfast, after which you will embark on a tour of the city’s most notable landmarks. You’ll begin at the ruins of Panama Viejo, which means «old Panama City» which was founded in 1519 and then laid to ruin by the infamous pirate Henry Morgan in 1671. Moving on from here you’ll come upon the colonial area, specifically Casco Viejo, where you can browse the shops, plazas and public parks. As we venture further in to the city you’ll see the commercial area of modern day Panama City.

Day 3: Panama Canal Tour

Known as one of the foremost engineering marvels of the world, the Panama Canal is more than just locks and channels. Lots of folks tour the canal on the weekend with hundreds of other people crammed on one boat but needless to say, the intimacy of the experience is all but lost. There’s a better way to experience the Panama Canal, especially for our active visitors who crave an exciting new experience.

Breakfast begins the day followed by a trip to the Amador Causeway, which is on the Pacific entrance to the Canal. As you travel along you will pass by two former military bases: the Albrook Airfield and Fort Clayton. After passing the former military bases you will come to the first set of locks. You may be fortunate enough to catch a ship passing through Miraflores Locks. A recently opened viewing center will give you a chance to really understand how the canal works.

After about two hours you will head north to Pedro Miguel Locks which is the smallest of the locks to Gamboa. Gamboa is actually right in the middle of Soberania National Park which lies along the Chagres river. This is where you will take a fast boat up the Canal. We will be passing some jungle islands along the way and perhaps even a ship in the canal. While on the ride you will enjoy a nice boxed lunch in the middle of the tropical paradise that is the Panama Canal.

Day 4: Train Ride in the Panama Canal & Gatun Locks

In the morning you will begin your train adventure along the Panama Canal, crossing the isthmus to Colon City. Once we get to Gatun locks you can enjoy an incredible view of Gatun Lake and the Caribbean Ocean. After a couple of hours you will then drive over the canal, which is only possible when both lanes are closed. You’ll get a chance to see the remains of the old French Canal before we arrive at the former military base Fort Sherman. From here we travel on to Fort San Lorenzo which lies on the mouth of the Chagres river. This stretch of the ride is famous for bird watching. As a matter of fact, San Lorenzo is recognized by UNESCO as an official World Heritage Site.

Day 5: Departure

It is recommended that you arrive at the international airport two full hours before your scheduled flight.
