Overview
The Soberania National Park was once frequented by the Spanish conquerors after Columbus discovered America in 1492.
It is 55,000 acres featuring many species of plants and animals and has been recognized the world over for the diversity of birds. Soberania is located off of the banks of the Panama Canal and is only 45 minutes from Panama City.
How to Get From Panama City to Soberania National Park
It’s really close and easy to get to Soberania from Panama City. You take Madden road to Gamboa and you are there.
What to do in Soberania National Park, Panama.
This is a bird watchers paradise! A world record was set with 525 different species of birds recorded in one day. Go bird watching as you hike down some of the trails in the park, like the Camino del Oleoducto. Or try the Camino de Cruces trail. It’s a four hour hike through the humid tropical forest. The Chagres river running through the park offers fishing and rafting. The river was once used by the Spanish conquerors to transport gold and silver from Peru to Portobelo.
