Detailed tour round Isla del Rey, one of the many islands that are part of Pearl Islands. Those white-sanded beaches and turquoise waters are incredible!
King Island is situated in the Gulf of Panama in Panama. It is the largest island in the archipelago of Pearl Islands and the second largest in Panama, after Coiba.
The first European to see the Isla del Rey was Vasco Núñez de Balboa, in October 1513, on his first expedition to the Pacific Ocean. He could only see it from afar, because bad weather prevented him from reaching it with canoes. The Castilian conqueror gave the name Isla Rica. Its present name probably refers to Christ the King rather than any particular king.
