Overview
Iguana is in the Province of Los Santos. It is 130 acres and has over 9 kilometers of beach front. These beaches, like other beaches in Panama are used by the turtles for nestling between spring and fall.
A large coral reef of 40 acres can be found in the park as well as Iguana, which is a white sand island. The island is home to many seabirds and features many species of marine life. Two kinds of turtles migrate to Iguana every year from the polar waters. The humpbacks and the yubatas migrate to the tropical waters every year to mate.
How to get to Iguana National Park From Panama City
You can travel by car from Panama City to Pedasi in 5 hours. From Pedasi you take a boat to Iguana Island. You find the boat at the mouth of the river Pedasi. If 5 hours is too long for a ride then you can opt for a plane ride of about 30 minutes. Take the plane from Panama City to Chitre in the province of Herrera. From there you can drive about two hours to Pedasi.
What to do in Iguana National Park
Water sports like snorkeling and diving or swimming in the crystal clear waters off the coast of the island are very popular. You can go hiking between Cirial Beach and El Faro Beach where you can find the really big Iguanas! Yes, the island was named after the giant lizards. If you like coral reefs then you will not be disappointed as Iguana has one of the most beautiful pacific ocean coral reefs.

The nearest town with hotels and amenities is Pedasi. You can find restaurants and car rentals as well as tourist guides. You can also find all of your basic amenities in Las Tablas in the province of Los Santos. It is recommended to arrange a tour of the island from Panama city before you set out on your journey.
