Colon coastal area is both beautiful and romantic. Even on a cloudy day it is really very nice to wander along the streets and enjoy the fresh marine air, the colorful houses and the cheerful atmosphere.
The French influence in the architecture is easily appreciated here. When French began to build the canal, they rebuilt Colon city in French style and colonized the island. After they abandoned the project, the US took charge and employed thousands of workers from all over the world to revive the canal.
